Frequently Asked Questions
How far do you travel?
I offer private midwifery care for women around Sydney – I am based in Coogee and travel a maximum of 60 minutes from my home.
Do you collaborate with other healthcare practitioners?
At every homebirth, two midwives are present to ensure you feel safe and well supported. Once you book with me, I’ll connect with one of the second midwives that I work with. I also work in collaboration with other health and wellbeing professionals, so you and your family receive the best possible care.
I currently provide all of my private midwifery care through The Nesting Hub, we are 3 midwives who work closely together and support each other at each birth.
How much does it cost?
All pregnancy and postnatal appointments are bulk billed. Labour and birth services, however, are not currently covered by Medicare. My full care package is $6,000, which includes round-the-clock on-call support, home visits throughout your pregnancy, complete labour and birth care, use of a birth pool, the attendance of a second midwife, and essential consumables.
For families without a Medicare card, an additional $1,000 applies. Other extra costs are usually quite small, such as standard pathology and ultrasound fees (depending on your choices), along with practical items like a pool liner, towels, or buckets for the birth.
How do you manage birth clashes?
I usually support 2–4 women each month, carefully spacing due dates to give everyone the time and attention they need. In the rare event that two births happen at the same time, one of my trusted colleagues from The Nesting Hub will step in to care for you.
It’s very likely you’ll have already met Gail or Kate during your pregnancy, as we regularly host morning tea gatherings to nurture connection and community.
How early do I need to book your private midwifery services?
Due to increased demand, these spots often fill up early, so it is a good idea to enquire before or around 7-8 weeks. Every so often spots become available, so feel free to reach out at any point in your pregnancy and we will see what we can do!

Do you care for women with risk factors?
Absolutely! I provide private midwifery continuity of care for all women, not just those planning a homebirth.
Your care may sometimes involve working alongside doctors and other healthcare professionals, and depending on your medical situation, the hospital may be the safest place for birth. I am with you throughout your labour and birth, whether it’s a planned hospital birth or an unexpected transfer, supporting you and advocating for your wishes every step of the way.
While I don’t hold practicing rights in NSW public hospitals, you will also have a hospital midwife assigned to your care.
The great thing about private midwifery care is that you can decide your place of birth during the pregnancy, there is no pressure!
